The logistics system for smart factories The Bossard Group was recognized with an award as part of the “100 Places for Industry 4.0 in Baden-Württemberg” competition launched by the German State of Baden-Württemberg. The jury of experts was impressed by the overall concept of the Smart Factory Logistics solution for automatic small-parts supply in manufacturing companies. In addition to the high degree of innovation, the solution was praised for its particular relevance to Industry 4.0.

The Bossard Group has completed the acquisition of Arnold Industries announced on October 21, 2016. With the acquisition, the Bossard Group is further expanding its presence in the USA into the Northeast. Arnold Industries has approximately 100 employees and generates USD 40 million in sales annually.

Bossard Group extends contract with the leading US electric vehicle manufacturer.

The Bossard Group is further expanding its presence in the USA into the Northeast by signing an agreement to acquire Arnold Industries. With its outstanding product portfolio of premium fastening solutions, the US supplier fits perfectly into Bossard’s corporate strategy. Arnold Industries generates USD 40 million in sales annually and serves customers primarily in the electronics, telecommunications, medical technology and energy sectors.

Bossard reporting continued growth The Bossard Group enjoyed significant growth in the third quarter of 2016. Sales rose year-on-year by 4.8 percent to CHF 169.7 million even though conditions remained challenging in some markets. Business in the Americas was particularly dynamic (+13.3 percent) as our cooperation with the leading US electric vehicle manufacturer continues to bear fruit. The European and Asian market regions also contributed to the positive developments in the third quarter. In net terms, the Bossard Group grew sales by 3.0 percent to CHF 513.3 million in the first nine months of the 2016 fiscal year.

Renowned Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aachen) has selected the Bossard Group as a partner for its demonstration factory (DFA). In the 1,600 m2 DFA, researchers explore and address forward-looking questions on the continuing convergence of production, information and communication technologies in a real-world environment. Bossard’s Smart Factory Logistics methodology delivers systems and solutions for smart inventory management.

While many still discuss the term and meaning of Industry 4.0, Bossard launches a concrete methodology that prepares manufacturers for change: Smart Factory Logistics.

In early May, Bossard Poland was awarded in the 2015 “Gazele Biznesu” ranking of “Puls Biznesu” in the contest for the most dynamic small- and medium-sized enterprises on the Polish market.

Official Aerospace Certification in France The Bossard Group has received its official aerospace certification in France. This official approval is the prerequisite for acting as a supplier in the aerospace industry. Bossard has thereby taken a further hurdle to intensify its activities in this demanding sector. The Group is already active in the aerospace industry in the US and was officially certified to the AS9120 standard in Switzerland in February 2016.

Annual General Meeting approves all proposals At the annual general meeting of shareholders (AGM) of Bossard Holding AG all Board proposals were approved with a large majority. The annual general meeting of shareholders approved all current directors in their posts. Dr. Thomas Schmuckli remains as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Slight growth in a difficult environment In a challenging market environment, the Bossard Group increased sales in the first quarter of 2016 by 0.9 percent over the same period last year to CHF 170.4 million. The sales development was in particular held back by the business in Switzerland, where the appreciation of the Swiss franc has sustainably affected the competitive position of many of our industrial customers. On a positive note, Bossard was able to more than offset the decrease in sales in Switzerland through additional business in other European markets. While our America business was challenging at the beginning of the year, the outlook is positive that sales volumes will rise in the coming months.

Record sales – Appreciation of the Swiss franc cuts into profit

Committed to business in the aerospace sector The Bossard Group is now officially certified to the aerospace standard AS9120 in Switzerland. A company must have this certification for its quality management system before it is allowed to act as a distributor to the aerospace industry. In line with its corporate strategy, Bossard intends to step up its business in high-tech industries that promise greater growth and more added value.

Ambitious capacity expansion in Thailand

Greater efficiency and customer proximity after the relocation The Bossard Group has made larger investments in the past few years towards expanding the Group’s own infrastructure. The relocation to this new technology and logistics center in Hvidovre, near Copenhagen at the beginning of the year was in line with this strategy. The new center will play an important role in developing the Baltic region: From Hvidovre we can efficiently supply products and services to customers in Denmark, Sweden, Norway as well as the Baltic States and Eastern Europe.

In an interview with “Finanz und Wirtschaft”, Roland Berger CEO Charles-Edouard Bouée mentions Bossard as a prime example of “Industry 4.0”.

New sales record – Growth in a challenging market environment The Bossard Group took another step forward in its growth strategy in the 2015 fiscal year. Despite the renewed appreciation of the Swiss franc, net sales rose by 6.2 percent to CHF 656.3 million (+10.1 percent in local currency) – boosting revenues to their highest level ever. A significant portion of this growth came from the acquisitions that Bossard carried out in 2014 and 2015. These transactions enabled the Group to solidify its market position decisively in the US, Scandinavia, Italy and France.
